Organic Gluten-Free Personal Care Products

Dear Melissa,
I have been suffering with a severe gluten intolerance for over 10 years and was finally diagnosed with Celiac disease.
I have been looking for 1 week now for organic gluten free bar soap and toothpaste. I am also looking for no cross contamination.
Even with the supposed healthy organic products, there's soy, sodium laurel sulfate, and it goes on.
I could scream and cry at the same time.
Sincerely,
Pauline Demers
ANSWERHi Pauline,
I'm sorry to hear that you're suffering so much. I do know of two companies that make organic, gluten-free personal care products.
My favorite is Dr. Bronner's soaps. All of their products are organic and gluten free. I use their peppermint castile soap as a body wash, laundry detergent, and toothpaste.
However, they do contain a little citric acid which can be irritating to very sensitive individuals. The tocopherols (vitamin E) they use are derived from soy and sunflower oils, so if you're looking to avoid soy that might be another issue. Both of these ingredients are last in the formula though, so they only make up a tiny amount of the total formula.
From searching through forums it seems as though those with Celiac disease can use Dr. Bronner's Soaps without issue.
But if you are looking for soaps without any kind of preservatives, try the small company
From the Meadows.
Check out the ingredients in their Original Unscented Organic Shampoo & Body Bar:
Organic Saponified Cold-Pressed Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Organic Coconut Oil, Castor Oil & Distilled Water
I have tried their shampoo, face wash, and lip balm and am really impressed with the quality. Just keep in mind that preservative free means a shorter shelf life. You should keep them refrigerated when not in use.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Best regards,
Melissa
